Michaelmas Fair

Step back in time and celebrate Michaelmas at one of England’s oldest and most beautiful continuing almshouses.
Join us on Saturday 26 September (10:30am–4:30pm) for a fantastic day of history, entertainment, artisan shopping, delicious food and family fun in the stunning grounds of the Hospital of St Cross, Winchester.
Experience medieval life brought vividly to life by The Hounds of Morrigan, with immersive living history displays, exciting re-enactments and demonstrations exploring the life of a medieval soldier. Enjoy authentic music from the four-piece ensemble Courtlye Musick, alongside performances from the ever-popular Rock Choir.
Browse a wide range of artisan makers, craft stalls and local producers, discover traditional calligraphy workshops, admire classic cars and enjoy open-air games and entertainment throughout the day.
There’ll also be plenty to tempt your tastebuds, including a traditional medieval-style spit roast, freshly made pizzas, sweet treats, a beer tent and a themed cocktail bar, alongside other delicious food and drink.
Whether you’re fascinated by history, looking for a memorable family day out or simply want to enjoy the unique atmosphere of this remarkable heritage site, there’s something for everyone.
